How to use the tool
- Add a photo: drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC or JFIF, or choose one from your device.
- Pick a size. Drag and zoom the crop box until the part you want sits inside it.
- Download a JPG (the default) or a PNG. A numbered size is exact; the square keeps your photo's own pixels. Nothing is uploaded.
What the size means
YouTube's page "Manage your channel branding - Computer", read 26 October 2026, says a profile picture must be a JPG, GIF, BMP or PNG file, no animated GIFs, should not exceed 15 MB, and renders at 98 X 98 px. "Channel banner & profile picture tips" says it's best to upload a square or round image. YouTube gives no upload pixel size for an ordinary channel.
YouTube Music Help, in "Set your artist avatar", asks Official Artist Channels for a 1:1 image at 800 x 800px resolution. The preset uses that size, labelled as the artist avatar size. 98 x 98 is listed, not offered, because it is the size YouTube shows, not one to upload.
The Square option saves the largest centered square at your photo's own pixels, never enlarged.
Questions
Is it private?
Yes. The crop runs in your browser. No file is sent to creavio or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab. The HEIC decoder downloads once, the first time you add a HEIC photo.
Is 800 x 800 the size for every channel?
YouTube publishes it for Official Artist Channels on YouTube Music. For other channels YouTube gives no upload size, only the 98 x 98 it renders at.
Which browsers does it work in?
Current versions of Chrome and Safari. It uses only features built into the browser, so there is nothing to install.
HEIC decoding uses heic-to and libheif, free software licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0. They are included unmodified as a separate file, loaded only when you add a HEIC photo. The source code is at the links above.
