3:2 aspect ratio

A 3:2 frame is one and a half times as wide as it is tall. Cameras from Canon, Fujifilm and Sony record it, and 4x6, 8x12 and 12x18 inch prints share it.

3:2 means 3 units wide for every 2 tall. Canon's EOS R6 Mark II records 6000 x 4000, and 4x6, 8x12, 12x18 and 20x30 inch prints have the same shape.

How to use the tool

  1. Add a photo: drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC or JFIF, or choose one from your device.
  2. Pick a size. Drag and zoom the crop box until the part you want sits inside it.
  3. Download a JPG or a PNG. Pixel sizes are exact; print sizes keep your photo's own pixels and show the largest print at 300 ppi. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions

Is it private?

Yes. The crop runs in your browser. No file is sent to creavio or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab. The HEIC decoder downloads once, the first time you add a HEIC photo.

Which browsers does it work in?

Current versions of Chrome and Safari. It uses only features built into the browser, so there is nothing to install.

HEIC decoding uses heic-to and libheif, free software licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0. They are included unmodified as a separate file, loaded only when you add a HEIC photo. The source code is at the links above.
