Pet Photography Workflow

Booking, waivers, and gallery delivery for pet and animal photography sessions.

Pet photography has its own set of challenges. Unpredictable subjects, safety concerns, and owners who want their animal to look like a model. creavio helps you manage the logistics so you can focus on getting the shot.

Booking Setup

Create a Pet Portrait session type. Key settings:

  • Duration: 45-60 minutes (pets have short attention spans; budget extra time)
  • Buffer: 15-20 minutes between sessions (cleanup, especially if outdoors)
  • Location options: Studio, park, home, or outdoor location
  • Price: Your pet session rate. Consider a premium for multiple pets or exotic animals.

Pet Intake Questionnaire

This questionnaire is critical for safety and session planning:

  • Pet name, breed, and age
  • Temperament: Calm, energetic, anxious, aggressive with strangers?
  • Commands they respond to (sit, stay, look)
  • Favorite treats or toys (for attention-grabbing)
  • Any health issues or mobility limitations
  • Vaccination status (required for studio sessions)
  • Are they comfortable with other animals? (important if sessions overlap)
  • Has the pet been groomed recently?

Attach this questionnaire to the session type so it sends automatically after booking.

Liability Waiver

Pet sessions carry risk: bites, scratches, property damage, escape. Use creavio's contract system to include a liability waiver. Key clauses:

  • Owner assumes responsibility for pet behavior
  • Owner confirms vaccinations are current
  • Photographer is not liable for pet injury during session (within reason)
  • Owner gives permission to use images for marketing (model release)
  • Cancellation policy for aggressive behavior during session

Send the waiver for e-signature as part of your booking confirmation automation.

Session Preparation

Send a prep email 48 hours before the session:

  • Bring their favorite high-value treats (not regular food)
  • Exercise the pet before the session to burn off energy
  • Bring a leash even for off-leash locations
  • If the pet has a favorite toy, bring it (great for action shots)
  • Arrive 10 minutes early to let the pet acclimate

Pet owners are emotionally attached to these images. They share them constantly. Deliver in a Collection set to Gallery mode with:

  • Social-ready crops: Square and story format for Instagram
  • Full resolution: For prints and wall art
  • Downloads enabled: Pet owners want to share immediately

Include a standout "hero image" as the gallery cover. Make it the one that captures the pet's personality.

Pet owners buy prints. A lot of prints. Canvas wraps and metal prints of their pets are top sellers. Enable your print store on the gallery and feature wall art options prominently.

Consider offering holiday-themed add-ons: pet Christmas cards, calendar prints, custom phone cases through print lab partners.

Repeat Business

Pet owners are loyal repeat clients. Set annual reminders for:

  • Updated portraits (pets change appearance over time)
  • Holiday-themed sessions
  • New pet additions to the family
  • Memorial sessions (sensitive but appreciated)

Tag clients as "Pet Photography" in your CRM and run targeted email campaigns for seasonal promotions.
